For this Session, Dr. Janda will review the algorithms previously used for the diagnosis of syphilis and HIV and then present the current reverse sequence algorithm for syphilis testing and the HIV testing algorithm incorporating 4th generation screening tests and supplemental tests. Interpretation of syphilis serology using the reverse sequence algorithm will be presented. Discussion of the new HIV testing algorithm will also include the manual Multi-Spot HIV-1/2 supplemental test and the new Bio-Rad Geenius for automation of the Multi-Spot assay. Interpretation and reporting of these tests will also be presented.
